Gossamer Wind Ceiling Fan

  The "Gossamer Wind" ...

... was conceived by Danny Parker at the Florida Solar Energy Center as a means of realizing the energy efficiency and comfort potential of ceiling fans. The design was developed in concert with AeroVironment, Inc., a leading company in advanced technology and aerodynamic design. The "Gossamer Wind" is the first residential ceiling fan specifically engineered to provide maximum air moving efficiency and improved comfort while extending convenience through advanced technology controls. Both the aerodynamic fan blade design and novel controls have patents pending.

The Blades

"The "Gossamer Wind" uses the first aerodynamically optimized residential ceiling fan blades. Designed by Bart Hibbs, a Cal Tech physicist who created the propeller for the first human powered aircraft, the blades of the "Gossamer Wind" provide superior air moving efficiency to any ceiling fan ever designed. The blades have an advanced computer-generated shape and airfoil designed to effortlessly cut through the air with an even load across its length. Superior aerodynamics improve efficiency and reduce friction, noise and wobble.

"... The combination reduces ceiling fan energy use by approximately 50% while reducing noise and wobble."

Available at Home Depots as "Hampton Bay" models.

The Callaway II with dimming 11 watt CFL lights (SpringLamp / HPF LTHD- 11-W, Item #10111) consumes the least energy.

Fan-Attic   Solar Powered Fan Attic

The Fan-Attic is a solar-powered attic ventilation system, introduced by Sun Tunnel Systems.

Because it's solar-powered, it costs nothing to operate. Since there are no wires to attach, it installs in only thirty minutes.

A Fan-Attic helps remove hot air in your attic and reduces the workload on cooling and air-conditioning equipment by as much as 50%. This helps to make your home a much more comfortable place.
